Born in 1955 in Illinois, Geri Comstock spent the first 26 years of her life there. In 1979, she received her B.S. degree in Education and in 1981, received her Ed.M. degree at the University of Illinois, Champaign. Upon graduation, she moved to California to accept a position with a large computer company. She continued her career in the computer industry as an educator, manager, test engineer and technical writer until 1993.

In 1989, she began attending classes covering both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional stained glass work. In 1992, while still employed in the computer industry, she embarked on a life-long dream of pursuing a career in the arts by exhibiting and selling her work at art shows in California. In 1993, she began studying sculpture and jewelry-making at a local college, completing 12 art courses and a certificate program in jewelry. Her love of 3-dimensional stained glass sculpture moved her into the area of warm and hot glass work which includes functional, sculptural, and jewelry designs. By 1994, she had embarked on her glass work full time.

Continuing to sell her work through art shows in California, her glass work has also been sold through many galleries and shops
